Cecilia Cruz, MD, MPH, CPCC, ACC
Founder and Principal Coach of MARPE

Dr. Cecilia Cruz is a Board-Certified emergency physician with over 25 years of clinical experience in both academic and community settings within large health systems. Over the course of her career, she has held various administrative roles and is currently Vice Chair of the Physician Engagement and Well-being Committee in a large healthcare organization. She also has a master’s in public health giving her insight into the health sector beyond the doctor-patient relationship, and through her work as a coach, she has gained a deep understanding of many of the issues leading to burnout, attrition, disengagement, and dissatisfaction within the healthcare sector.

Several years ago, while facing a taxing health condition, Dr. Cruz became acutely aware of the misalignment that existed between her core values and life purpose and how she was experiencing her professional and personal life. She realized that she had lost her being in all the doing of her very busy life. This led to deep introspection and reassessment of how she wanted to be and what she wanted to reflect into the world. She undertook a journey of self-discovery and growth which brought her to participating in coaching, then to becoming a certified coach, and eventually to founding MARPE.

Her purpose now is to help physicians and healthcare teams be fully conscious to how they engage with their professional and personal lives and develop the ability to more intentionally choose responses that reflect and support their deepest values and purpose.
